Candle Care:
Surprisingly, there is a proper way to burn your candles. If you want the most out of your candles - maximum burn time, great scent throw, beautiful burns, please follow the candle care instructions below. We are talking about fire here, so not only do we want you to love your product, we need to keep safety in mind!
- Trim the candle wick to 1/4" before each lighting. Wick trimmers work great, but so do your fingers. If a wick does not get trimmed, the flame can get too big, which will cause the candle to burn too fast (and the jar will get very hot). Remove and discard trimmings.
- On the first burn, allow candle to stay lit until the wax has reached a full melt pool edge to edge (about 3-4 hours). This will prevent tunneling. Soy wax has a memory and likes to do the same as previous burns. We don't want any wasted wax!
- Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time. The candle can get very hot the longer it burns and the flame can get a little larger/unsettled. You may even notice loss of scent and lead to sooting. Also, the larger the melt pool, the more chance of the wick moving.
- Keep the candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface and away from flammable objects.
- Keep away from drafts, ceiling fans, and vents. Continuous air movement can lead to lack of scent and unruly flame, which can then lead to an uneven burn.
- Keep away from pets and children.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Stop burning when 1/4" of wax remains.
Sounds easy enough, right? Candle makers want you to get the full benefits of these hand-poured candles and we want you to enjoy them for many hours!
Appearance:
After soy wax has been burned, the tops may look a little mottled after cooled. This is a normal property of all natural soy wax.
Candles may also arrive at your home with what candle makers call "wet spots" along the sides of the jars. It looks like air bubble(s) trapped along the sides. Wax shrinks and expands as temperatures rise and fall during transit and while sitting in your home. Due to this, wax may lose adherence from the glass vessel in some areas. Again, this is a normal characteristic of wax and does not affect your candle in any way. As you light your candle, these spots may even disappear.
Scent Throw:
The size of your candle matters. The smaller the candle, the less it will fill up a room with its scent. Smaller one-wick candles are best for, you guessed it, small rooms - bathroom, small bedrooms, etc. The bigger the candle (multiple wicks), the more space it will fill up. Please don't expect a 2oz candle to fill up an open layout living room.
